Description

'Back To It' Open Contemporary Dance Class with Charlotte Hannah:
Wednesday 28th January, 9.00-10.30am OR Friday 30th January, 9.00-10.30am in Dance Studio 2, University of Chichester

‘Back to It’ is a series of accessible dance classes, designed to support students, staff and external dancers during a ‘Welcome Back’ week.

The classes aim to reintroduce participants to dance training in an inclusive environment. The classes will focus on rebuilding physical readiness and technique, and reconnecting with movement before the term begins.

The sessions would initially be led by Associate Dance Lecturer Charlotte Hannah.

Aims & Objectives

* To provide an inclusive, confidence-building environment for dancers returning after time away from training or teaching.

* To safely rebuild strength, flexibility, and coordination through structured and progressive class content.

* To reintroduce core dance technique with attention to alignment, precision, and artistry.

* To re-establish a sense of community within the University of Chichester dance network.

Class Structure

Each 90-minute session will include:

1. Progressive Warm-Up: Focused mobility and conditioning to prepare the body for movement.

2. Technical Development: Rebuilding strength, balance, and control through contemporary exercises.

3. Travelling Sequences: Dynamic movement across the space to develop stamina and flow.

4. Floor work: Reconnecting with the floor through gentle movement. Optional standing version if needed.

4. Phrase work: A short sequence of connected movements.

5. Cool Down: Stretching and recovery.
