As part of the national Being Human Festival 2017, the Department of History and Politics is hosting an interactive event at 6pm on November 17 led by Professor Ross J. Wilson to uncover our lost First World War heritage through exploring language and song.
Over the last few years, an extensive programme of commemoration has marked the centenaries of the First World War. However, whilst we remember the events of 1914-1918, there are parts of that history we have forgotten. Through this interactive event using language and song, we will discover the lost heritage from the First World War. We will focus on how individuals and communities adapted to the war, developed new skills and how we can learn more about this history and discover something new about a war we think we know so well.
